Long Term Archive Engineer
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
You will be part of the Data Services Team – involved within all phases of software engineering ranging from requirements analysis, design, implementation and verification/ validation of the software. More precisely you will be responsible for:
Requirement management, design, implementation, verification/ validation and maintenance of EUMETSAT Long Term archive software and documentation, and related commercial off the shelf software (COTS), throughout the entire software life cycle with particular focus on evolutions for new programmes;
Investigation of anomalies, their documentation, classification and, the development and delivery of S/W correction, including the execution of relevant regression testing;
2nd line support for the EUMETSAT Long Term Archive and the related communication and interaction with other teams at EUMETSAT;
Software configuration management, release preparation and deployment of software corrections.
Skills & Experience
You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience:
A university degree in computer engineering or comparable;
Software development, verification/validation and maintenance, using a formal life cycle;
Software Engineering with extensive experience in designing and developing software components and applications in the Java 1and C++/C programming language under Unix/Linux using Object Oriented (OO) approach;
Provision of 2nd line maintenance support for operational systems;
Relational Databases (JDBC and SQL);
XML, XML Schema and XSLT technologies.
Fluency in English is mandatory; knowledge of another European language is an advantage.
