    A vacancy for an Information Assurance Architect has arisen within Airbus Defence and Space in Portsmouth.
    Airbus D&S require a security architect to drive beneficial security change into the business through the development and review of
    architectures ensuring that they fit business requirements for security, mitigate the risks, conform to the relevant security
    policies, and to balance information risk against cost of countermeasures.
    You will consult on, and design, innovative solutions tailored to a deep understanding of our client's needs and advise on the
    architecture of secure business systems. You will be the cyber design authority on programmes of works collaborating across
    enterprise architectures to produce end-to-end security designs. You will define cyber requirements and to translate those
    requirements into appropriate services and offerings through the provision of security solution design and the development of
    technical, logical, and physical models with innovative service solutions. Your knowledge and skills will be used to assist on
    bids, proposal for works, as well as on implementation and integration. As a security Architect, you will be expected to represent
    Airbus at senior stakeholder level, and to help guide our clients through their security issues.

    Your main tasks and responsibilities include enabling the design and implementation of secure ground control systems and
    satellite communication architectures demonstrating behaviours/responsibility consistent with:
    ¤ Identification of information risks arising from potential solution architectures;
    ¤ Design of alternate solutions to mitigate identified information risks;
    ¤ Ensuring alternate solutions/countermeasures mitigate identified information risks;
    ¤ Application of 'standard' security techniques and architectures to mitigate security risks;
    ¤ Development of new architectures that mitigate the risks posed by new technologies and business practices;
    ¤ Provision of consultancy and advice to customers on IA and architectural problems; and
    ¤ Supervision of Security Architects with less expertise and/or experience


    We are looking for candidates who have applied architectural principles to complex systems; possession of a broad knowledge
    of security vulnerabilities and techniques for defending against them; leading workshops to develop security architectures;
    supervising less experienced practitioners; and possession of a good knowledge of sources of up-to-date information relevant to
    security architecture design.
    In addition, candidates will need to demonstrate they are:
    ¤ Capable of determining, establishing, and maintaining delivery of cost-effective solutions for information security within Airbus
    Defence and Space programmes/projects
    ¤ Capable of articulating the different forms of threat to, and vulnerabilities of, a range of information systems and assets and of
    comprehending and managing the risks relating to information systems and assets.
    ¤ Comprehend the common technical security controls available to prevent, detect and recover from security incidents and to
    mitigate risk.
    ¤ Developed and applied standards and strategies for verifying that measures taken mitigate identified risks.
    You should be able to demonstrate a complete understanding of the relationship of risk and security in the design of our
    solutions, be an effective written and oral communicator, and be adept at persuasively presenting and justifying security
    architecture design solutions. You will be used to dealing with multiple stakeholders both technical and non-technical and be
    able to adapt your approach as required for your audience. Your technical knowledge and understanding should be a given
    backed up by appropriate technical qualifications.
    The nature of some of our work will mean that you will need to be eligible for, or already hold appropriate level of UK Security
    Clearance. Whilst you will be based from our Portsmouth offices, the nature of the role may necessitate expensed travel to
    client sites and other Airbus and sub-contract offices as needed and could include extended periods away as required. The
    work/life balance of the individual is valued and Airbus D&S will endeavour to minimise, wherever possible, travel and time
    away.
