    Summary

    An exciting opportunity for an experienced Engineer to work for Telespazio VEGA onsite at ESTEC.

     

    Objective

    To provide support to the Technology Planning Section within Systems, Technology and Concurrent Engineering domain.

     

    Responsibilities / Duties

    Duties will include but are not limited to:

    Contributing to the tasks of the Technology Planning, which include:

    Piloting the Technology Harmonisation process at European level leading to roadmaps agreed by ESA Programmes, Technical Domain leaders, Member States and industry and monitoring the implementation

    Providing a secretariat function for the Technology Harmonisation Advisory Group and Technology Advisory Working Group

    Establishing the European Space Technology Master Plan

    Maintaining a database of industrial capabilities consistent with harmonization dossiers and roadmaps, and in coordination with D/IPL

    Supporting industrial policies relating to technologies

    Interfacing with the EU for technology related matters and coordinating the Agency support to EU technology programmes

    Leading the coordination with the European Commission and European Defence Agency of critical space technologies for European non-dependence

    Maintaining the end-to-end process for management of technology development within ESA, providing the secretariat function to different working groups, and evolving it as required to improve efficiency and use

    Evaluating technology development results at aggregate Agency level

    Contributing to actions supporting Member States in preparing and implementing National technology R&D programmes and projects

     

    Qualifications / Experience

    A PhD or MSc or equivalent qualification in an engineering or technology related discipline.

    A background in a wide range of technologies relevant to space and experience in space projects and technology development

    Experience working with the European Commission and/or on EU projects, as there will be a special focus for the post holder on supporting those activities related to the interface with the European Union

    Ability to work and communicate effectively in a multidisciplinary technical environment. Easy contact with personnel and well balanced autonomy in the execution of the requested tasks

    Rigor, commitment and reliability in the execution of the assigned tasks and capacity to identify priority actions

    Familiarity with electronics office automation tools (e.g. Microsoft Office suite, including Access) and techniques, electronic mailing, customised databases

    Knowledge of web tools and familiarity with ESA corporate tools is an advantage

     

    Essential Skills

    Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team within the boundaries of assigned tasks and a stringent schedule

    Good English language skills

    Excellent communication and presentation skill

    Excellent analytical skills

    High standard of document drafting

    Ability to work effectively both within a small team and in an autonomous way

    Positive, “can-do” approach
