    Job Description

Help us to prepare and support the operations preparations activities for our Meteosat Third Generation (MTG) satellites.

    The Role

This is an outstanding opportunity to become involved in one of our most exciting and important future missions. In this role you will be the technical lead for the System Validation Tests involving the different modes of satellites and both our and the LEOP service provider’s Control Centres.  You will also coordinate the co-engineering of the satellite operations preparation in readiness for our partners to prepare and launch our MTG satellites. EUMETSAT will take over the operations responsibility after the LEOP phase and during this preparatory phase you will ensure our responsibilities to the LEOP service provider are delivered on time.  You will assess the viability of the space and ground segment developments to ensure that we deliver a safe and efficient operational service after launch.  You will represent EUMETSAT and work with our partners to support them in the run up to the satellites going live.

You will have worked on at least one LEOP and have experience of the operations preparations phase of an Earth Observation satellite mission. A knowledge of SCOS mission control systems would be an asset.  You need to be aware of industry standards, with the capacity to understand complex issues in an operational environment.  Capable of being calm in a fast-paced environment, you will need to be able to communicate effectively under pressure, being aware of the conflicting interests of every stakeholder.  You can manage complex technical concepts and need to ensure that these are presented simply in formal documents and verbal presentations so that all databases and procedures are updated in line with operational developments.

    What we offer

EUMETSAT provides a collaborative, international environment with opportunities to establish a long career perspective. We offer a competitive salary and outstanding benefits. We offer the chance to work on exciting satellite programmes - both current and planned. You will play a leading role in managing the planning of the operations of our satellites after LEOP; making a difference to our missions and partners, often working with people who are experts in their field.
