    Engineer, IT Systems (Virtualization)

    The position is responsible for the evaluation, design, analysis, implementation and documentation of Hardware and Software Linux projects within SES and affiliated companies, as well as for IT project support (execution) within the organization and for the assigned customer related projects.



    Design, specify, procure and implement IT systems based on Linux

    Review, document and optimize all existing Linux-based infrastructure

    Review or create processes and workflows for Linux projects (from analysis to hand over)

    Support on-going Infrastructure projects

    Define, write, optimize processes about user/systems/project creation

    Review, document, maintain and update all BCP processes including Linux systems

    Ensure maturity improvement and adherence of/to all IT service management processes, including Change Management, Incident Management and Problem Management

    Provide support to 3rd party applications (Varonis, Papercut…)

    Play an active role in project management (from budget setup via procurement control to handover and documentation) for the implementation of any required project

    Provide support to internal and external customers for clarification of technical matters, new solutions deployments and optimizations

    Provide general engineering support to other sections in the operational, engineering, sales and business development area

    Provide effective support to users upon request and deliver professional message and communications according to SES IT standards

    Provide deliverables according to timelines fixed in project charters

    Provide necessary input for annual budgets in time

    Liaise with equipment suppliers and recommend cost effective solutions and ongoing maintenance arrangements

    Provide continuously feedback / input to the Senior Manager, Global IT Systems, participate actively in team meetings

    Ensure full adherence to existing policies (CoBIT, ITIL, Security and other IT related)

    Focus on simplification and standardization

    Perform other tasks as requested / required

    Stay up-to-date with state-of-the-art IT concepts and technologies (virtualization concepts mainly)

    On-call duties will be required 24/7 on a rotational basis



    Ability to integrate into cross-functional and/or virtual project teams

    Good analytical and problem-solving skills: ability to frame complex problems or business issues and can elaborate and articulate alternative solutions

    Process oriented with very good documentation skills

    Proactive approach towards potential and/or current customers

    Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

    Ability to understand priorities and to proactively deliver results, even under tight deadlines

    Ability to overcome resistance to change

    Ability to learn new technologies quickly

    Ability to understand business requirements and all stakeholders in the service delivery process



    Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Business Information Systems or equivalent

    Minimum three to five years of applicable professional experience in a large heterogeneous environment

    Good experience on Project Management Methodology as well as in IT Process Methodology (ITIL, COBIT…)

    Proven experience on Linux Technologies (Debian, CentOS preferred)

    Strong experience on virtualization technologies (Citrix, VmWare, Datacore…); any certification will be considered as an asset

    Poven experience in servers management, administration, troubleshooting and deployment (preferably HP Hardware)

    Good working experience on scripting

    Proven experience with monitoring tools (Puppet, Centreon, Altiris….)

    Good experience on documentation and use of all solutions in Microsoft Office Suite

    Sound technical understanding of SAN-, cloud- and backup technologies

    Proven experience in Microsoft Active Directory management, certification preferred

    Broad knowledge of Information Security and knowledge of the specificities of the satellite industry

    Vendor Certifications preferred

    Fluency in English, any other language is considered as an asset

    Willingness to travel internationally
