    Job Description

This is a great opportunity to become part of the ongoing paradigm shift in the space sector. You will join an exciting and ambitious program revolutionizing how ground segments of space missions are built, operated and commercialized.

To address the growing commercial new space economy, Telespazio Vega is investing and creating a complete new platform for the operations of space missions. We are inventing the next generation of ground software and are looking to hire brilliant minds to shape this exciting project with us!

Several positions available. You will join our highly dynamic NewSpace team, consisting of IT engineers (architects, developers), space specialists and business profiles (product management, sales); leveraging a massive space domain expertise gained over the last 40 years. The best of two worlds.

    See 'enable.space' for more info.

This position is based at our Head Office in Darmstadt. It is a permanent full time position with an earliest to immediate start date.

We are looking forward to meeting you!

    Profiles

We are looking for innovators, who come with no preconceptions but instead with disruptive ideas; either from outside the space industry; or within the space industry and eager to change it!

Outside of the space industry: you have strong expertise in Cloud Engineering (AWS) and want to shape a new initiative from the beginning. You dream of becoming a 'digital transformation guru' in a sector that really needs it. Join us in the space industry; there is a lot of cool stuff to do – and yes, your software will fly spacecraft's!

Already in the space industry: you have worked with the "traditional" ground systems, discovered the conservative mentalities, and… felt a big frustration! Fear not! Join our new start-up section and build with us this new end-to-end product from scratch, using only the most modern technologies: cloud-native apps hosted on containers, leveraging AWS services and non-space software, high-end DevOps with Kubernetes... Finally, you will be free to do real innovation! Study of Project specific Characteristics.

    Responsibilities / Duties

Coach our space domain experts on Cloud Engineering

Communicate your innovative ideas and inspire for new approaches, keeping up to date with the newest trends and innovations

Participate in the design of the new space products, with a focus on the cloud and the micro-services architectures

Participate in the products development, via e.g. configuration of AWS services, programming of new cloud-native software, or integration of third-party products, following a highly agile process

Participate in the migration of legacy products (at least some of their functions) into a micro-services architecture

Write technical documentation in English language

Attend technical meetings (in English) with clients and partners

    Think! And be creative!

    Qualifications/Experience

Degree and/or professional experience in Cloud Engineering

Experience building modern infrastructure and software outside of the space industry is a plus

    Essential Skills

Proven expertise on Cloud Engineering, ideally with AWS

Solid skills with modern architecture techniques including micro-services and event-driven architectures

Solid knowledge of Docker containers and orchestration platforms

Experience designing and developing cloud-native applications

    Inventor mentality, creative personality

    Future-oriented mind-set… burning for innovation

    Desirable Skills

Knowledgeable on the fast growing AWS portfolio of services

Experience migrating existing applications to a micro-services architecture

Experience implementing and operating an enterprise-scale cloud, including service catalogue and service enablement automation

Member of the cloud development community and naturally following latest innovations

Passionate or eager to work in space!

    Your Benefits of joining us

By joining the Telespazio family, you will enjoy all the benefits of a competitive salary in a sustainable work environment, flexible working time models, diverse advancement and training possibilities for technical, language and soft skills, a generous holiday package as well as a company pension scheme. Furthermore, we support you with your relocation. Through our wide network, we can also support your partner in finding a job at your new work location.
