The Job

The head of system product development drives the end-to-end design and development of Septentrio High Accuracy GNSS sub-system products (ruggedized receiver units, smart-antennas).

Your mission

  • You manage and coach a set of talented design teams by providing technical leadership covering the product development cycle from the translation of high level marketing requirements into product specifications to the definition to the implementation the overall system architecture. You always keep our customers’ use of the product in mind;
  • You contribute with your technical expertise and domain knowledge to the elaboration of the product development plan, in close collaboration with the program director and the project manager, the product manager and the industrialization manager. You ensure that this plan can be executed by the different teams in your scope and that the risks are made explicit in a mitigation plan;
  • You orchestrate the development of several High Accuracy GNSS sub-system products within your teams, according to Septentrio end-to-end development process and take responsibility and accountability for completeness, quality, timeliness and regulatory compliance of the results;
  • You contribute to the technical reporting and the preparation, in collaboration with the program director, the project managers, the product managers and the industrialization manager of the different gates in Septentrio’s product portfolio management process (StageGates);
  • You are responsible for the elaboration and continuous improvement of the development methodology and process in your group. You contribute, in collaboration with the other R&D Directors, to the continuous improvement of the project management practice to meet the ever-growing customer expectations. You contribute, in close collaboration with the Supply Chain, on the selection and management of the design, development and production partners;
  • You coach, motivate and work on the personal development of your employees to ensure their competences, skills and know-how are used and developed at their best.

Your qualifications

  • Have an engineering background (MSc Electromechanical, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering) an at least 8 years experiences in a leadership role in electronic product development (ECU, TCU) for the heavy machinery industry (construction, mining, agriculture);
  • Have a proven experience in cross-functional engineering team and project management and a strong competence in managing stakeholders beyond your direct scope;
  • Demonstrate a strong commercial awareness to be able to analyse customer requirements and translate them into technical requirements;
  • You are fluent in English.
