For our customer, DLR in Oberpfaffenhofen, Germany, we are seeking an L1 Maintenance Engineer to support the Galileo Operations Project.

Responsibilities

The general activities are:

  • Maintenance and Administration of the IT platform (Unix and Windows) of the Ground Control and Mission Segments for the 24/7 Galileo mission (preventive maintenance and troubleshooting of unexpected technical issues encountered during operations);
  • Administration of user and root accounts on the maintained elements;
  • Installation and verification of new and replacement parts in the Galileo Ground Segment;
  • Validation of maintenance procedures for deployed GCC hardware & software;
  • Performing system tests including interface tests based on defined procedures;
  • Development of maintenance procedures for the Ground Control and Mission Segment systems based on existing documentation;
  • Documentation of the work and configurations in a ticket system;
  • Research and implementation of innovative solutions to improve the IT systems;
  • Periodic participation in the 24/7 on call maintenance service (week basis).

This is a full-time position to be located at DLR’s premises in Oberpfaffenhofen, Germany, with the planned start date being mid-April 2024 or ASAP thereafter.

Qualifications & Competencies

In addition to having a university degree in a relevant field, you shall meet the following mandatory requirements:

  • Solid knowledge of various operating systems such as Linux and Windows (Server);
  • Linux skills and proficient use of the command line (Shell);
  • Understanding of network protocols and database systems;
  • Willingness to adhere to strict security policies and regulations;
  • Team orientation and the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with other team members;
  • Availability to support on-call service and occasional travel to other Galileo sites;
  • Fluent written and spoken English is mandatory.

Advantage skills:

  • Experience in system/network engineering and administration;
  • Experience in server infrastructure maintenance (hardware, virtualization);
  • Knowledge of ITIL processes and project management.

You will be able to conduct all activities in an orderly and disciplined manner, able to work calmly and accurately under stress and able to work without supervision.
