Are you deeply passionate about RF technology and have a personal dedication to exploring its depths, perhaps even out of private interest e.g. as a radio amateur? We are seeking a talented RF Engineer with a strong interest in RF systems and a knack for software development to join our team and contribute to the development of the Terma RF-SCOE (Radio Frequency - Special CheckOut Equipment). This position is open to both young university graduates eager to start their career journey and experienced engineers with a few years of experience, looking to further develop their expertise. As an RF Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the success of space missions through the design, development, and testing the RF systems of our customers satellites.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement RF-SCOE systems for space missions, ensuring compliance with project requirements and industry standards;
  • Develop software solutions for RF systems, including control interfaces, data processing algorithms, and automation scripts;
  • Conduct RF system analysis, simulations, and testing to optimize performance and reliability, leveraging your personal dedication and interest in RF technology;
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical engineers, software developers, and project managers to deliver integrated RF solutions;
  • Troubleshoot and resolve RF-related issues during integration and testing phases, utilizing your expertise in both RF and software development domains;
  • Support pre-sales & offer creation (preliminary designs, effort estimations, costs, technical proposals and other offer documentation);
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in RF technology and contribute innovative ideas to enhance system capabilities and software functionalities;
  • Write scientific proposals for future products to relevant parties, e.g., ESA, FFG, etc.

Qualifications:

  • Master or PhD in Electrical Engineering, RF Engineering, Computer Engineering or related field;
  • Personal dedication and interest in RF technology would be highly beneficial;
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python, C/C++, Java, bash scripting, Matlab, etc. for software development related to RF systems with a proactive approach to learn and apply new programming skills;
  • Proficiency with RF measurements and measurement techniques in general (signal generator, signal analyzer, oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, etc.);
  • Familiarity with communication protocols and standards relevant to RF systems (e.g. TCP/IP, UDP). Knowledge of satellite specific protocols like e.g. PUS, ECSS, EDEN, HLP is a plus;
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, creativity, and ability to work in a dynamic team environment;
  • Prior experience in RF system design, RF-SCOE development, and software development is beneficial;
  • Prior experience in the aerospace or satellite industry is a plus.
