Job Description

Skydweller Aero is looking for motivated, process-oriented, and creative system engineers to join the displays and controls team to support the development of HMI and Mission Management functionalities on SKD UAV.

The job includes system engineering activities across the system lifecycle, including SRR, PDR, CDR and TRR.

The tasks will include:

  • Act as responsible engineer of Human Machine Interfaces (HMI) and Mission Management (MPM) Capabilities.
  • Responsible for supporting the CONOPs development, covering HMI and Mission Management Capabilities.
  • Responsible for doing functional decomposition and allocation of HMI and MPM Capabilities.
  • Responsible for the associated technical baseline adhering to SKD configuration control methods.
  • Support Test and Integration activities.
  • Generate all artifacts and reports required for quality and certification purposes.

Required Qualification

  • Bachelor’s Degree In Engineering or Related Field.
  • The HMI/Mission Management Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, and integration of the assigned avionics. That experience should include:
    • Demonstrated experience in defining, planning, and developing complex systems level requirements to support HMI/Mission systems.
    • Performing systems level integration activities for UAS HMI/Mission systems including: Control and Display Systems, Navigation Systems, Communication Systems, or Surveillance Systems.
    • Interfacing with suppliers to ensure technical requirements were met to support UAS development need dates.
    • Providing technical assistance to production and customer service departments for support of system technical inquires and issue resolution.
    • Performing system evaluation and analysis to verify the system design compliance with functional requirements.
    • Coordinating with cross-functional team members to complete assignments/projects as defined and on schedule.
    • Conducting system lab testing and aircraft functional testing.
    • Preparing presentations on avionics system design/development status. Supporting system analyses for HMI/Mission systems.
    • Experience working in hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) or system integration labs (SIL).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Engineering or Related Field.
  • Proficiency in writing technical requirements, documentation, and reports involving test data and analysis.
  • Familiarity with HMI/Mission Management test laboratories and lab equipment.
  • Working knowledge of system qualification requirements including DO-160F/G for environmental, DO-178B/C for software, and DO-254 for complex electronic hardware.
  • Familiarity with SAE ARP 4754a and ARP 4761.
  • Familiarize with Human Factors Standards.
  • Ability to manage and complete complex work assignments.
  • Ability to work independently and within a multi-functional team environment.
  • Ability to support production and customer service to trouble shoot and recommend solutions to aircraft issues.
  • Intermediate programming capability in C/C++ and/or Python.
